As Christian parents, we’re always on the lookout for meaningful ways to instill our faith in our children’s hearts. With Easter approaching, there is no better time to dive into the complexities of the crucifixion and its significance. But… is there an Easter story for kids that helps make it easier?

Today, I’m thrilled to share with you “The Easter Storybook: 40 Bible Stories Showing Who Jesus Is” by Laura Richie. This captivating book focuses on the timeless Easter narrative, and it helps our little ones understand the essence of Jesus’ life and teachings.

And Ian Dale’s illustrations are breathtaking! My kids love looking at them as I read each day aloud.

Discovering the Easter Story for Kids

Easter isn’t just about bunnies and eggs; it’s the cornerstone of our Christian faith. With “The Easter Storybook,” families go on a journey of discovery. They explore the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, His resurrection, and beyond. The book beautifully presents 40 intentionally selected Bible stories, which Laura has carefully crafted to engage young minds and hearts.

Starting with Jesus’ visit to the Temple at the age of twelve and throughout His earthly ministry, the storybook provides a child-appropriate context for the Easter story. It culminates with His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, the crucifixion, glorious resurrection, and His ascension into heaven.

Every aspect of Jesus’ earthly ministry comes alive through vibrant storytelling and stunning illustrations. Laura has masterfully woven together the biblical narrative, making it accessible and relatable to children of all ages.

Teaching Who Jesus Is

One of the most remarkable aspects of this book is its focus on revealing who Jesus truly is. Through each story, children encounter Jesus as the compassionate healer, the loving teacher, and ultimately, the Savior of the world. By portraying Jesus’ character and actions, the book helps young readers grasp the profound impact of His life on humanity.

As parents, we want our children to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. This book serves as a valuable tool in nurturing the seeds of that relationship. It helps to lay a foundation of faith that will guide them throughout their lives. Whether it’s through the story of Jesus calming the storm or His tender interactions with children, this book showcases the depth of Jesus’ love and invites children to know Him intimately.

Fostering Family Connections

This time of year, families come together to remember the incredible gift of salvation. The storybook provides an excellent opportunity for family bonding as you read and discuss each story together. Children of all ages — from toddlers to tweens — can engage with the content, prompting meaningful conversations about faith, love, and sacrifice.

We added this special book to our family’s Easter traditions three years ago. This was our third year going through the book together in the weeks leading up to Easter, and it has been amazing watching our children grow each time. Our seven-year-old — who is also reading through the Gospels in a kids’ version of The Message (a contemporary language Bible) — eagerly read the verses that accompany each story.

All three of my children, even the youngest who is almost five now, love the discussion questions at the end of each story. They all have fantastic thoughts and deep, probing questions that lead to amazing and important family discussions.

You can add “The Easter Storybook” to your family’s traditions, too. Whether it’s reading a story each night leading up to Resurrection Sunday or using it as part of your daily family devotions, allow this book to deepen your family’s understanding of the Gospel story and its significance in your lives.

Embracing the True Meaning of Easter

In a world filled with commercialism and distractions, it’s become even more essential to consider our children’s hearts and how we share the truth of the Gospel with them. Simple, easy-to-implement traditions that anchor our faith are more important than ever for families struggling to find time in our busy, fast-paced schedules. You may not have time, energy, or mental space to keep up with elaborate ideas and activities.

But you can make 5 minutes a day for 40 days.

Reading this book, which is a beautiful rendition of the easter story for kids, at breakfast or after dinner or at bedtime takes maybe 5 minutes. Yet it can serve as a beacon of light, guiding children back to the heart of the Gospel—the incredible love of Jesus Christ.

As you journey through the pages of this book with your children, may you be reminded of the profound sacrifice Jesus made for each of us. Let’s seize this opportunity to teach our children not only about the events leading up to and surrounding Christ’s crucifixion, death, and resurrection — but also about the transformative power of faith and redemption.

An Easter Story For Kids

“The Easter Storybook: 40 Bible Stories Showing Who Jesus Is” is more than just a book; it’s a treasure trove of spiritual wisdom and inspiration for young hearts. As we prepare to celebrate Easter, let’s immerse ourselves and our children in the beauty of the Gospel story. Together, let’s embrace the joy, the hope, and the eternal truth found in Jesus Christ, our risen Savior.

I highly recommend adding the book to your family’s library and incorporating it into your Easter traditions. May it become a cherished resource for years to come, reminding your family of the incredible love that defines the Gospel. Dear friends, may your celebrations be filled with faith, family, and the blessings of our risen Lord!
