His Encouragement: New Every Morning

Welcome! Welcome, dearest friends, to His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for Your Thursday. Every week, I join a few blogging friends to bring you a Bible passage and a little hope-filled discussion. We pray that these devotionals help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you.

Today’s Scripture

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23, ESV

God’s love never ends. His mercies do not have an expiration date. Just like the newness that we often feel in the morning with the dawning of the sun, His love and mercy are fresh and new every single day.

Let’s think about that for a moment.

Yesterday is gone.

It is in the past. It is over. Sure, you may have made some mistakes. Maybe you lost your temper. Perhaps you said something you regretted. It is possible that you caved to that temptation you had been struggling with.

God knows and understands our weaknesses – far better than we know of them ourselves! Yet right here in Lamentations, we are gently reminded that God’s love for us “never ceases”.

Today is not yesterday.

Now is now. God is waiting and willing to forgive you of whatever sin or mistake you may be holding on to. He is longing to take away your burdens, your guilt, your shame. Why are you clinging to it? Berating yourself?

Mercies new every morning

God wants to shower you with forgiveness, love, and mercy. Don’t let another minute go by. Wherever you are right now, cry out to the Lord. Pour out your heart and lay your burdens at His feet. Relinquish control and allow Him to take over.

Be refreshed by His love and mercies! Let the Light of the Son dawn in your life.
