Welcome! Welcome, dearest friends, to His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for Your Thursday. Every week, I join a few blogging friends to bring you a Bible passage and a little hope-filled discussion. We pray that these devotionals help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you.
Today’s Scripture
And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Luke1:35-38, ESV
This December, I signed up for A Family Advent email series by DiscipleMama. Every day I receive an email with a brief daily scripture passage following Jesus’ life and short (low-prep) family worship readings with activities for kids. My kids are quite young (ages 3 and under) so we have not always gotten to the activity part but it is a great resource for ideas.
My father, my husband, and I are also reading a chapter from Luke aloud every evening during or after dinner. I am thoroughly enjoying being more intentional and making time for Jesus this Christmas.
Today’s encouragement comes from Luke 1. I first read it on December 1st and then again this morning as part of the reading provided by DiscipleMama. (It’s not too late to sign up!) There were many things in this passage that really came to my attention, but perhaps the most powerful is found in verse 37.
For nothing will be impossible with God.
Luke 1:35, ESV
Life in this sin-marred world is not always easy. The path we follow can be treacherous. Many of us face challenges, illness, pain, heartache, and deep sorrow. When we are in the deep valleys, we often cannot see the joys that are awaiting us on the other side of the mountain.
But God knows and He helps us to climb out of that valley and up that mountain — often carrying us!
Nothing is impossible
So whatever you may be going through, it is my humble prayer that you take hold of the promise in Luke 1:35. We may not be able to understand why we are experiencing the circumstances we are in. We may not even be able to see how it will all work out.
But hold on to the promise: “For nothing will be impossible with God”.
My friend, God opened the womb of a woman named Elizabeth, well-passed menopause, and gave her a son in her old age. He can work miracles in your life too. God placed the baby Jesus in the untouched womb of a virgin named Mary. He can and will see you safely through.
If God can open the wombs of an old woman and a virgin, He can work miracles in your life, too. Share on XWhat verse has touched your heart this week? Share in the comments below!

How to have gracious words (His Encouragement)
“Let it be to me according to Your Word.” This is the part I love. I love Mary’s response. Basically, she’s saying, “God, I trust You, so Your Will be done.” It’s so beautiful and encouraging to me!
Me, too!
Amen! Nothing is impossible for God <3
And knowing that is powerful!
